"Coach Reid"
Assistant Coach
SPRINTS / HORIZONTAL JUMPS
Tarik Reid serves as a positional coach specializing in sprints and jumps, with expertise in the 400m, 200m, 100m, long jump, and triple jump. While he coaches all sprint events from the 400m down, he specializes in developing long jump and triple jump athletes.
Coach Reid’s passion for track and field began early and evolved into a lifelong mission to better the next generation of athletes. Motivated by the desire to provide young athletes with the knowledge and mentorship he wished he had earlier, he is committed to helping them unlock their full potential.
Since beginning his coaching career in 2013, Reid has coached for multiple programs, including the Las Vegas Heat Track Club, the Honduran Military Track Team, DODEA High School in Germany, Leonard High School in Ruskin, Florida, and the 813 Track Club. His experience spans both USATF youth programs and high school-level competition.
As an athlete, Tarik competed in track and field at both the high school and collegiate levels. In addition to his coaching experience, he is medically certified as an EMT and firefighter.
Coach Reid’s philosophy is simple but powerful:
"Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard."
